Who We Are & Our Mission

The Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health is the head institution of the maternal and child health service of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a specialized medical institution of national significance, comprising a scientific-practical medical complex. The Center includes scientific, clinical-diagnostic, educational, administrative, and other divisions within its structure. The Center operates 14 branches across the regions of the republic and in the city of Tashkent.

The Center's core missions: Providing high-tech specialized care to women and newborns Conducting fundamental, applied, and innovative scientific research Training and retraining medical personnel in the field of maternal and child health Developing national clinical protocols and standards for treatment and diagnostics In 2022, the Maternal and Child Health Center successfully passed international healthcare quality accreditation and became the first state medical institution in Uzbekistan to receive an International Quality Certificate.

On October 1, 1974, in the city of Tashkent, on the basis of Maternity Hospital No. 2, in accordance with Decree No. 418 of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated August 23, 1974, the Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology was established — the first obstetric care institution in Uzbekistan, which simultaneously became an educational and scientific center dedicated to providing specialized medical care to pregnant women and newborns, as well as training qualified medical personnel in obstetrics, gynecology, perinatology, and anesthesiology-resuscitation. As part of healthcare system reform, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. UP-3923 of September 19, 2007 and Resolution No. PP-700 of October 2, 2007, the institute gained the status of an independent specialized medical institution engaged in not only treatment and prevention but also scientific research, educational, and methodological activities.

On October 1, 1974, in the city of Tashkent, on the basis of Maternity Hospital No. 2, by Decree No. 418 of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated August 23, 1974, the Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology was established — the first obstetric care institution in Uzbekistan, which simultaneously became an educational and scientific center designed to assist pregnant women and newborns and train highly qualified personnel in obstetrics, gynecology, perinatology, and anesthesiology-resuscitation.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-3923 of September 19, 2007, and Resolution No. PP-700 of October 2, 2007, the institute gained the status of an independent specialized medical institution.

Today, the Center is a major scientific-practical medical complex comprising a 500-bed inpatient facility, a modern polyclinic, and scientific and educational divisions.
