On October 1, 1974, in the city of Tashkent, on the basis of Maternity Hospital No. 2, by Decree No. 418 of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated August 23, 1974, the Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology was established — the first obstetric care institution in Uzbekistan, which simultaneously became an educational and scientific center designed to assist pregnant women and newborns and train highly qualified personnel in obstetrics, gynecology, perinatology, and anesthesiology-resuscitation.
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-3923 of September 19, 2007, and Resolution No. PP-700 of October 2, 2007, the institute gained the status of an independent specialized medical institution.
Today, the Center is a major scientific-practical medical complex comprising a 500-bed inpatient facility, a modern polyclinic, and scientific and educational divisions.
